Such an honor to be invited and speak as a STEM panelist at the 23rd Annual Legislative Weekend Workshop hosted by Maryland Legislative Black Caucus foundation.

The informative workshops were geared to help draft Maryland General Assembly legislation for the 2019 Maryland legislative session along with the future Maryland Black Agenda.
Nikki Henderson (moderator)
“Did you know Black women account for 6.0 percent of the work force and 2.2 percent of STEM occupations?”
The Panelist
To be on the same panel with other black women doing amazing work in STEM research was liberating. All of us in different areas of STEM coming together as black women to talk about the importance of STEM in our community. #STEMlyBold #BlackGirlsInSTEM #FutureLeaders.

My Motto for the young generation
“Come to STEM, Grow in STEM, Stay in STEM.”

I shared my story of how I had to overcome a lot of discrimination and obstacles being sometimes the only black on my team and all of the times the only black woman on these teams. I shared how these obstacles didn't stop me from perusing my passion of STEM. I turned hardship into purpose and joined forces with other black women at my company to be a voice for those who didn't have a voice. On this panel I represented my company T. Rowe Price as a black woman who shares a love for STEM.
Get Inspired
Thank you again Sharon Blake for the recommendation to speak on the panel and thank you to the women who I was able to connect with. #Grateful
